All alone in the night
The stars makes it bright
And brings back my sight
While I'm all alone in the night
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
This author is not famous right now. I believe this author is a teenager or a college student right now. The biography tells that this poet wrote his poem starting from 2010. I hope this person becomes famous in the future so that more information about this poet would be known.
PERSONAL RESPONSE
This poem tells about darkness, but I believe the
setting sounds like it was taking place in space. It was talking about how you
can’t see anything in the dark, but the stars brighten the view, allowing you to
see anything in the night. For a text-to-text connection, the poem reminds of a
movie that said something about how everything is dark in the night, but the
stars will brighten the view for the little child. So the child did not feel too
scared to sleep in the dark. For a text-to-self connection, the poem reminds of
when I was a kid, and I was afraid of the dark, but my parents would say God
will always be with me, even in the dark. He would be the bright light I need
when I need the light in the dark. This pretty much helped me overcome the fear
of darkness. For a text-to-world connection, many parents would pretty much
sympathize with the poem, for the poem relates to how the parents can tell
their kids about not being afraid of the dark, for there is always an available
light in the sky. I really liked the part where the phrase in the poem tells
about how the bright light from the stars bring back the sight. It sounds
similar like ‘Amazing Grace’. I would suggest the poem to be longer. Not
because there is not much details available, but I want to know more about how
the poet would represent the darkness as, compared to what light is.
TP-CASTT
TITLE
The title is based on a pretty dark and grieving tone, and the title gives you the feeling that the title sounds lonely. I thought this kind of poem was pretty eerie to read at first because of the title, but the detail was not that bad.
PARAPHRASE
I imagine how it would be if I were up there with no air
All alone in the night
The stars would make the sky shine bright
And brings back my lost sight
While I'm all alone in the dark, gloomy night
CONNOTATION
1. structure- 1 quatrain, rhyme scheme- abbbb
2. speaker- the poet putting his view in a dark night audience- the readers
3. Figurative language- none
4. Imagery- Sight (bring back my sight, stars, shine bright), taste- none- touch- none, hear- none
ATTITUDE
the speaker's tone is not so dark, but it has the tone color of lost hope in it for the first two line of the poem. But the tone changed to a bit brighter side starting from line 3.
SHIFT
1st quatrain (line 1-5) The speaker's tome had no energy in it, but the tone starts to be confident as each lines of the poem is read.
TITLE
After going through the poem, I didn't feel any difference in the title, but I would say that the poem is so dark, but it tries to describe how life would be like being alone in the night,
THEME
1. Even in the dark, there will always be a light
2. Do not be afraid of the dark
3. Think every moment like 'Amazing Grace'
